Phenyl Methanol, Phenylcarbinol
Benzyl alcohol is a colourless liquid with a mild, pleasant aromatic smell. It is a natural constituent of many essential oils and is used as a solvent and preservative in pharmaceutical and cosmetic preparations. It is also used as a denaturing agent for ethanol, meaning that it is added to ethanol to make it unfit for human consumption.
