Calcium hydrogen sulfite is a colorless or white crystalline solid that is highly soluble in water. It has an acidic taste and is used as a preservative and antioxidant in foods and also as a reducing agent in some industrial processes such as waste water treatment, paper and pulp production and metal processing.
