Hexamethylene diisocyanate is a colourless liquid with a pungent, acrid odour. It is primarily used in the manufacture of polyurethane and polyurea polymers, which are used in a wide range of industrial and consumer applications such as coatings, adhesives, elastomers and foams. Hexamethylene diisocyanate is considered a potential occupational hazard and exposure to it can cause respiratory and skin irritation.
