hydrofluoric silicic acid - Chemical resistance

Hexafluorosilicic acid is a colourless acid with the chemical formula H₂SiF₆. It is used in electrolytic processes for the refining of aluminium. It has a high solubility in water and is a strong fluorinating agent. In industry it is used for the production of fluoride salts and as a catalyst in some organic syntheses. It is important in electroplating, glassmaking and metallurgy. Care must be taken when handling it for safety as it can corrode and exposure must be minimized.
