MIC, Isocyanatomethane
Methyl isocyanate (MIC) is a colourless flammable liquid with a strong irritating odour. It is used as an intermediate in the manufacture of pesticides, particularly carbamate and organophosphate pesticides, and in the manufacture of polyurethane foams and other polymers. It is also used as an intermediate in the manufacture of other chemicals. Methyl isocyanate is highly toxic and exposure to this chemical can cause serious health problems.
