Octadecane, also known as stearyl alcohol, is a fatty alcohol with sixteen carbon atoms. It is used as an emollient and stabilizer in cosmetic and pharmaceutical products, especially in creams and soaps. It has properties that help improve the texture and consistency of products. Octadecane can also serve as a carrier or emulsifier in some pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
