Acetate solvents are characterized by the presence of an acetate group in their molecular structure. They are commonly used in the paint and coatings, printing and cleaning industries because they are generally less toxic and more environmentally friendly than other solvents. Examples of acetate solvents include ethyl acetate, propylene glycol methyl ether acetate and butyl acetate.
