Vinyl Cyanide, 2-Propenenitrile
Acrylonitrile is a colourless liquid with a pungent, sweetish, acrid odour. Acrylonitrile is used in the manufacture of various polymers, including acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and polyacrylonitrile (PAN). It is also used as a monomer in the manufacture of other chemicals and as a solvent. Acrylonitrile is toxic if inhaled or ingested and can irritate the skin and eyes.
