Boric acid water is used in a number of applications, including as a coolant in nuclear reactors, as a fire extinguishing agent in aircraft and submarines, and as a cleaning and sterilising agent in medical and cosmetic products. In nuclear reactors, borate water is used as a neutron absorber to help regulate the fission reaction and control the release of nuclear energy.
