Caustic Potash
Potassium hydroxide is a white hygroscopic solid that is highly soluble in water and generates considerable heat when dissolved. It is commonly used as a strong base in a variety of industrial and manufacturing processes, for example, in the production of soap, fertilizers and in the refining of petroleum products. It is also used in food processing and as a cleaning agent. Potassium hydroxide is a corrosive material and can cause chemical burns or irritation to living tissue.
