1,1,1-Triofluoroethane, R-143a, Freon 143a
Type 143a refrigerant (R-143a), chemical name 1,1,1-trifluoroethane, is a colourless gas. It is used as a refrigerant either alone or, more commonly, as part of mixtures. It is also used as a propellant in air cans used to clean electronic equipment. It does not deplete the ozone layer but is a global warming agent.
