POWERtorque lubricants

Assembly pastes and lubricants for threaded connections help prevent thread seizing and ensure suitable friction conditions during tightening. Selected lubricants can be used at operating temperatures of up to 1,400 °C.

Lubricants for Screw Joints and Assembly

The appropriately chosen lubricant for the screw thread affects the coefficient of friction, and thus the actual preload of the joint at a given tightening torque. Incorrect selection or absence of lubricant can lead to seizing of screws or insufficient tightening of the flange joint.

We offer assembly pastes from our own POWERtorque line as well as anti-seize pastes that are metal-free.

We Supply Lubricants

The lubricant used must also be considered when calculating the tightening torque. Different coefficients of friction affect the resulting preload of the joint at the same tightening torque. Our online tool can help you calculate the correct tightening torque.

The choice of lubricant is closely related to the proper tightening of the joint. More information can be found in the sections Tightening Torque and Screw Seizing.

Why is thread lubricant so important?

Lubricant affects the friction in the thread and on the bearing surfaces of the fastener. With the same tightening torque, a lower preload occurs in the joint without the use of lubricant, as a larger portion of the tightening torque is consumed to overcome friction. Therefore, the lubricant used must be taken into account when calculating the tightening torque.

What is the difference between POWERtorque LF kote 450 and LF Booster?

POWERtorque LF kote 450 is a heat-cured lubricating coating. POWERtorque LF Booster is a homogeneous assembly paste designed for lubricating a wide range of thread material combinations. We are happy to advise you on selecting the appropriate solution based on the screw and nut material, operating temperature, and environment.

What is the purpose of the metal-free lubricant Depac 505?

Depac 505 is a non-metallic anti-seize paste, resistant to high temperatures and pressures. It is suitable for various types of metal joints, especially for chromium-nickel alloys. The operating temperature range is −20 to 1,400 °C.

Does the type of lubricant affect the calculation of the tightening torque?

Yes. The friction coefficient, which varies depending on the lubricant used, is one of the input parameters for the calculation. You can use the online tool for calculating the tightening torque or contact us with specific parameters of the joint.
