1-Chloro-1,2,2,2-Tetrafluoroethane, R-124, freon 124
Type 124 (R-124) refrigerant, chemical name 1-chloro-1,2,2,2-tetrafluoroethane, is used in gaseous fire suppression systems as a replacement for bromochlorocarbons. It is also a replacement for R-114 refrigerant, which is used in centrifugal chillers and in high refrigerant applications, including overhead cranes.
