Strontium oxide is a white, powdery solid with a high melting point that is relatively stable under normal conditions. Strontium oxide is an important raw material for the production of strontium compounds such as strontium carbonate and strontium nitrate. It is also used as a source of strontium ions in various applications such as the ceramic, glass and fireworks industries. It is also used as a starting material in the production of other strontium compounds such as strontium aluminate and strontium ferrite, which are used in electronic applications.
