Flange leveling – machining sealing surfaces

A damaged flange sealing surface does not have to mean shutting down the equipment or replacing the entire part. We provide professional machining of flange seating surfaces directly on site, without disassembly.

When is equalization needed?

The sealing surface of the flange deteriorates over time – due to corrosion, mechanical stress, and improper installation. The result is a damaged sealing surface, which can lead to leaks. In such cases, neither a new gasket nor the correct tightening torque will help.

Equalization is the right choice if:

The sealing surface is damaged, corroded, or deformed.

The joint repeatedly leaks even after the gasket has been replaced and properly tightened.

The flange was subjected to impact or improper handling.

When replacing the device, it is necessary to verify the condition of the seating surface.

Are you dealing with any of these issues?

We will ensure the restoration of the sealing surface on-site and the return of reliable sealing.

How we perform the equalization

We machine the flanges directly on-site using machines with internal and external clamping. No disassembly, no transport to the workshop. The result is an accurate sealing surface with the required roughness, ready for new gaskets.

We provide a complete solution: gasket design based on calculation according to EN 1591-1, supply of fasteners with lubricant POWERtorque LF Kote 450, * controlled assembly by our team including tightening protocol.

They Trust Us

Our solutions help increase the reliability of our clients' operations.

Flange Equalization of 2050 mm Diameter On-Site

The customer replaced the upper part of the technology with a new one and needed to check and possibly align the original lower flange with a diameter of 2050 mm. Since this part of the technology is firmly connected to the ground, disassembly was not an option.

We performed the flange equalization on-site as part of the overall resealing of the apparatus. We supplied gaskets and fasteners treated with POWERtorque LF Kote 450 lubricant, which were subsequently tightened in a controlled manner by our assembly team.

Result = Increased reliability and safety of the flange joint

All this without the need for shutdown and disassembly of the equipment. Read more in our article.

When Equalization Is Not Enough

If the damage is too extensive or economically unfeasible to machine, we will propose an alternative.

We use special sealing materials that compensate for irregularities and restore tightness without interfering with the flange. Suitability is always assessed individually based on the specific application.

Frequently Asked Questions about Sealing Surface Equalization

In many cases, yes. We will mount the machining machines directly onto the flange on-site, so there is no need for disassembly or transportation. The extent of the intervention in operations depends on the specific situation and we will assess it during the analysis.

Flanges of various diameters can be machined. An example is the leveling of a flange with a diameter of 2050 mm directly at the installation site. The specific feasibility will be assessed based on the parameters of your equipment.

Equalization is always the first step, not the only one. After machining the surface, we perform a tightness calculation according to EN 1591-1, supply gaskets and fasteners, and conduct a controlled assembly with a protocol. The result is a tightness guarantee verified by a pressure test.

Yes. Our equipment and materials, including the POWERtorque LF Kote 450 lubricant, are suitable for stainless steel, black steel, galvanized steel, and other materials.
